Tales of the Wanderlust

The colours on the canvas fade slowly As the winds of life erode the surface Of my our imaginary worlds Those worlds that are made and destroyed By wills and fancies – ironically not mine! For solace we can fall back on Karma, Honestly where will civilizations be  if not for these philosophies? Well, for some, dreams are like bubble wrap, Meant less for nurturing, more for bursting Either for the pleasure of others Or for ourselves, as we have nothing better to do! But thanks to those fancies we beggars can ride once in a while.

When I can’t talk to you after a testing day, When I can’t see you roaming around, And feel secure in that natural bond, which tied us together, When I can’t listen to your voice - a soothing reassurance, like a breeze that foretells the arrival of monsoon on a sultry summer evening, I try to hold on to the myriad images in my memories I try to experience them in my mind I try to look into the photos in which we have frozen moments that defined my life. Alas, that only makes me cry As I crave more to hug you tight, to lean on your shoulder to beat, to pinch, to bite you to laugh my heart out with you. The laughter is still ringing in my ears And the images refuse to budge My heart brims with longing for those moments of noisy bonding. Where are those stairs to happiness, those endless nights of banter? Where are those thousand cigarettes Which we shared with countless secrets? The way we prowled the corridors caring two hoots about everything else, Shouting war cries and swear words as if we were the rulers of all the worlds. Ah! the dirty dirty birthday bash Mango juice and potato mash? Water can Drums, Noise and Din beating the day lights out of him. As Sumanth rightly said ‘you can take the man out of the desert But you can’t take the desert out of the man’ Singapore you have it all But you aren’t like Dubai at all! For us it represents the spirit, light and glow of our friendship, love and exhilaration. Would give anything to get those Dubai days back We miss you Dubai. We love you Dubai.

                I shall not enter the sea I stood defiant, stubborn. I did not want to enter the sea as I would not be able to bathe in it, because I was not dressed properly. I thought just standing on the edges with waves touching your feet will not be fun. A person of coast has a special relationship with the waves and he becomes snobbish, snooty as with someone you love.                 So, while my friends moved away holding random loci, I started walking along the coast when she reached out to me by stretching a gentle wave of silky warm cloak and invited me in. She played with my senses by blowing air around my hair; she laughed at me and enticed me to come near nay challenged me to stay far. To hell with it, I wanted to take off my floaters and roll up my pants and run towards her and step into the warmth of this Arabian Beauty. ...

The three wise monkeys – Mizaru (see no evil), Kikazaru (hear no evil) and Iwazaru (Speak no evil) were sitting on the shores of a foreign sea and contemplating about the ways of the world and suddenly Kikazaru asked “What is your greatest discovery in this strange land?”   The ever pensive Iwazaru became more pensive and was thinking on the lines of human nature and goodness of the universe when Mizaru quipped “The Greatest discovery is finding each other and not to forget the fourth one Shizaru – the one who does no evil.” All three nodded in agreement when Iwazaru added “Like all the truths of life this might seem very trivial at the first glance but to find the right people with whom you can resonate and speak your mind, people with whom you can be yourself, people who become your friends for life even after you speak with them for a few hours, people who become a part of you and of whom you become part, is one of the greatest boons of our lives.” Kikazaru went...

What did a few hours of Corporate Finance do to a group of students? Some fell asleep, some lost their sleep, some got terrified and some gratified (with the group studies). And then there were the six of us(Appy, Ashish Bhai, Binay, Panda, Laddoo and I)  who went bonkers and decided to go the beach at 12 30 AM And off we were to Jumeira Beach by taking a cab.!!!!  The moon was bright and beautiful. The stars seemed like small pieces of glasses strewn over a black velvet blanket that were reflecting the light of the moon and the Hunter Man (Orion) emerged slowly from behind the clouds to stand guard for us. The waves we whispering their welcomes. Cool air in our hair and cool sand beneath our feet we stepped into the surprisingly warm water.... The surprises nature offers us subtly, never end. After a good deal of playing in water in a mildly 'nicotine induced high' we sat on the shores with the skyline of Dubai behind and the endless sea in front of us. This serenity...
